How we talk to our bodies is one of the most important aspects of body positivity. When we communicate with our bodies in a negative way, it can lead to feelings of self-hate and worthlessness. This is why it is so important to learn how to talk to your body in a positive way. In this guide, we will discuss some simple tips that will help you start communicating with your body in a more positive manner.

First, practice body positive affirmations.

Affirmations are powerful statements that remind ourselves of our worth and show us how to be kinder to ourselves. These can range from simple statements like “I am worthy” to more specific ones such as “My body is strong and capable”. Start by writing down one affirmation every day in your journal. If you don’t like to journal, simply face yourself in the mirror and say one affirmation out loud.

A few affirmations examples include:

“I am a strong and athletic woman.”

“I am a healthy, loving, and active woman.”

“I love what my body does for me every day.”

Second, be mindful of the words you use when talking about your body.

For example, try to replace negative self-talk such as “I’m disgusting” with more neutral or positive language like “My body is beautiful in its own way.” Additionally, make sure the words you say are respectful and encouraging towards yourself. This will help you get rid of negative self-talk and encourage you to see the good in yourself.

In fact, our brain is a very powerful thing in that how we think about ourselves can distort how we see ourselves physically. For example, if you only have negative self-talk in your head about yourself, when you see yourself in the mirror you are going to nit-pick every single thing. If you start practicing more positive self-talk such as complimenting yourself every day, you start to view yourself in a much more positive light.

Finally, try to be consistent and persistent in your body positive affirmations.

It can be easy to fall into the pattern of negative self-talk, so it’s important that you take time out of your day to practice your body positive affirmations. Make it a habit by incorporating it into your morning routine, such as sipping coffee and journaling your affirmations, or simply saying one good thing to yourself in the mirror as you get ready for the day. Practice makes progress!
