It’s great to meet you!
As you’ve probably seen, I am a fellow working mother who is working towards many fitness goals, trying to keep my family and myself fed, and navigating the hectic days of being a working mother. I understand the frustrations of any working mother runner – there isn’t a day that’s easy!
My Health Journey
I never realized how crazy it is being a woman until I had my first baby. I was definitely not prepared for the sleepless nights, breastfeeding struggles, and constant need to be doing something at all times. My body took a toll after my first pregnancy, where I developed pre-eclampsia and had to be induced, 72 hours later having a c-section because my baby was too big to come out. I was back to work within 12 weeks after that insane labor and delivery, let alone living off of 4 hours of sleep and having to juggle pumping schedules and daycare sick bugs.
Another baby later, my body was in complete disarray. At first, my weight didn’t seem to be an issue. I love to run, so maintaining good fitness was easy. However, I slowly started seeing weight gain problems completely out of nowhere. I attributed it to my anxiety medication, which was also worse after having children. Needless to say, my body was changing rapidly, I was juggling my full-time job, and all the other things that come with being a mom.
I recently realized, I can’t live like this. I can’t feel anxiety so bad it keeps me up at night. I can’t keep pushing my body to its limits because I’m already exhausted. I can’t jump from one thing to the next, hoping my body can just “adapt”. I needed to figure out what was going on.
I would ask my doctor about hormone imbalances, and get nothing in return. Long story short, I was told there was nothing I could do because my body was going to go through these changes, whether I was ready or not. But I didn’t take that answer seriously. I started researching, and I found SO MUCH information about hormone health for women I was overwhelmed.
Fast forward to today, and I have helped many women (especially moms) figure out nutrition and workout plans that fit their personal health goals. Our bodies as women are so unique – and I love teaching women about it. Let’s be real, none of us really had a discussion about our menstrual cycle and how our hormones respond, we were just told we would bleed once a month and that was that.
There’s more to the story though. And I’m here to share my personal experience with hormone imbalances, weight issues, and mental health problems with you, so you can feel yourself again.
